Detecting Vehicles Coming Up Our Driveway11 Dec 2006 11:31 GMT2
(I don't believe this got posted properly, so I doing it again.)
I believe someone mfgers a device that can be placed along a driveway, and
when a vehicle passes by it sends a wireless signal to an alarm in a home to
signal the event. Whoa! As I was typing this, it occurred to me ...

Diodes as transistors10 Dec 2006 06:52 GMT9
Is it possible to use two transistors back to back "leg PN leg leg NP
leg" to make a transistor?  I can't do too much reasearch right now
because I'm on a cruise ship and the internet is expensive.  I had the
idea a few days ago and its killing me.
What's the, um, aim in electronics?09 Dec 2006 21:22 GMT5
a question from a total eletronics newbie...
Generally speaking, when it comes to electric circuits, is it fair to
say that they all work by manipulating the current?
For example, the purpose of a resistor (correct me if I'm wrong) is to
Testing a Multimeter09 Dec 2006 16:51 GMT5
I am looking at buying a used Fluke multimeter (either an 8060A or a
77-III) from a local guy and I'm looking for simple tests I can do on
each meter.  Neither meter has a current calibration so I certainly
don't expect the either to be perfect.  I may send it off for a proper

House meter question08 Dec 2006 16:41 GMT5
I noticed if you hammer a pipe into the earth ,,say in your yard,,and
connect a wire to that,,and use that as the negative wire,,then connect
a wire to the positive of an ac outlet in your home,,the meter shows it
as around 110 volts but at a much lower amperage,,but it will still
Heat a Two Car Garage -- Quartz Heaters08 Dec 2006 06:47 GMT25
I have an elderly neighbor who likes to work in his garage, and likes it
warm. He's had a kerosene heater and now a propane heater. He's not entirely
happy with the price of the fuel. If I were in his shoes, I wouldn't want to

How to get hFE value?08 Dec 2006 02:56 GMT6
I made a sample circuit and I want to calculate the value of hFE. How
can I get the value.
I know hFE=Ic/Ib and Ib is (Vcc-Vbe)/Rb which is about 100uA. In order
to get Ic, I have to know hFE and a sample circuit is not the same
