Capacitor identification 218 Jul 2006 12:31 GMT11

Removed from a broken (caught fire!) fanless power supply (fanless PC power supplies are NOT a good idea - Yesico was the manufacturer if you want to avoid them).
It was right next to the AC input, so I assume it's a filter capcitor (to ...

5 volt supply straight from 240v AC mains18 Jul 2006 11:43 GMT35
Please may I ask what the arrangement is when you see a single LED powered
straight off of a mains power supply without any transformers or switch mode
circuitry?  In other words, totally uninsulated or regulated.
I have an old computer with an external hard disk which needs about ...
AC socket/wiring questions18 Jul 2006 07:14 GMT18
1. Is the Hot wire more insulated than the neutral?  If so, why?  If
the current is the same at all points in a circuit, the neutral wire
will carry all the current coming in from the hot wire back to
ground...so why have less insulation for the neutral wire?

coil gauge17 Jul 2006 13:30 GMT6
HI again,
I read on the internet that depnding on the gaude size lets 18, it will take
more amp to generate the same EM strenght as with a 30 gauge. considering
there are the same weight of magnet wire to do the coil.
Fuse for 24V Transformer17 Jul 2006 11:52 GMT5
I'm wiring a remote ON/OFF switch for a large room (window mount) air
conditioner which is otherwise accessible only via a 8 foot step
ladder. Historically, everyone has been going to the fuse panel to do
this. I need to use a low-voltage 24VAC control circuit to keep

square waveform (555)17 Jul 2006 02:10 GMT6
Just liek to know if it is a normal thing that at LOW frequencies ( 15-25
Hz) that the output of a 555 timer is not exactly  a square wave. At higher
frequencies I get a perfect square wave (say between 50 and 300Hz). But at
lower frequencies, the voltage when get to high, slowly ...
delay17 Jul 2006 01:57 GMT6
What is the cheapest way to add a 250 ms delay to an analog signal that
goes up to 80 MHz?
battery16 Jul 2006 18:58 GMT2
I'm thinking of using this battery:

kw=9+volt&parentPage=search

What's the cleanest way to attach the wiring to it?
Thanks.
How to hook up a 12vdc single coil latching relay16 Jul 2006 12:06 GMT4
I ordered these single coil latching relays and didn't get a schematic
with them and.... I'm lost as to how to hook them up. Any info would be
appreciated... whitefoots
Simple DC circuit design help16 Jul 2006 06:49 GMT4
Hi, I am building a trail camera where space (lack of) is a
consideration in the case I an using.
So I would like to eliminate individual batteries for the components. I
was actually an electronic tech about a zillion years ago, but have
Configuration of TV setup15 Jul 2006 17:58 GMT2
Have TV Video and DVD player.
Video and DVD are modern with usual multitude of connections.
The TV is older has one scart plug only. The Video In and out and audio
in and out are labelled but blocked so they are probably not connected.
