Infra red31 Jul 2006 22:38 GMT9
Will the infra red radiation from an ordinary 100 watt bulb pass through two
sheets of window glass about 5 metres apart to trigger an IR sensor?

12V 80Va Transformer31 Jul 2006 21:32 GMT26
Help Please,
Can somebody explain to me what 80VA Means for a transformer with 2 x 12V
outputs, and 240V inputs.
What I am interested in is the max amps I can pull per 12v output.
24Vdc Power supply31 Jul 2006 18:11 GMT28
Could somebody please help me with a very simple 24Vdc power supply, capable
of delivering 20amps.
Does not need to be a very clean supply, Just to drive 3 of 6amp dc motors.
Hoping to just use 240ac to 24ac transformers, some single phase rectifiers,
IC Designations31 Jul 2006 07:39 GMT2
Hiya folks.  I was looking over at
http://www.wdesignc.com/wdc/w65c816s.cfm at the modern versions of the
6502/65816, and still being a relative novice, I'm confused by the
codes they identify chips with.
basic mosfet question31 Jul 2006 02:00 GMT3
I was wondering how much voltage should we measure in the gate of a
P-channel power MOSFET. I ask this because I am trying to repair a
Philips monitor. I found out that the B+ going to the collector of HOT
connected on the drain of a power MOSFET (IRF 9620). The low voltage
what methods do you use to strip wires?30 Jul 2006 21:53 GMT18
Looking for easy methods to strip the ends of wires for breadboarding or
just general use.  Typically I have been just using wirecutters and pulling
but there has to be a better way. Most likely in the 20-24 gauge range.  Are
the specific wire strippers worth the money?  ...
some questions relating television30 Jul 2006 10:09 GMT22
i just to know .please tell me about the questions below
Q:   In TV signal transmission amplitude modulation is used for picture
and frequency modulation is used for sound. Is there any exeption.
Q:   What are frequencies normally used for satellite transmission of
A portable 220 volt recepticle30 Jul 2006 04:49 GMT3
There was a past letter on Goggle regarding one's idea of making a 220
volt portable recepticle. Single phase yet this was not specified.  It
was too old for me to respond directly.
The problem with the proposed solution was that he proposed something
Low Current Measurement (without ammeter)30 Jul 2006 00:26 GMT5
I have an application that uses 3 displacement sensors with analog
current output from 0 to 20mA. I have a real time DAQ system that only
measures voltage from 0 to 10V. I have read the previous response to
Pradheep's question and it seems like the current values are too high
Why polairity on a DC relay?29 Jul 2006 07:53 GMT5
Why does this 5V relay have a polarity marked on the coil?  It does not seem
to have a built-in diode.  See bottom of page 2 of the spec sheet:

resistor output29 Jul 2006 06:51 GMT15
I hav a twelve volt battery, I connect it to a 10 Ohm resistor. Obviously I
need a high wattage resistor. So i get 12/10 = 1.2 amps.
so power = 14.4watt.
I use a 20 watt resistor, when i do that , the resistor get very hot, I can

Sorry for reposting, so I posted earlier a thread "Problems with

Getting into the field.28 Jul 2006 17:56 GMT22
I wonder if some engineers out there might help with some advice on
getting into the field.
I have a degree in physics and research experience in experimental
physics, which the physics rags have always told me was the cat's meow.
PIC micro math28 Jul 2006 17:13 GMT8
Can anyone point me to some assembly code
for doing 16-bit math on 8-bit PICs?
Thanks
