| Why is grounding of shield for the ethernet connector important ? | 31 Aug 2005 11:51 GMT | 8 |
The Ethernet connectors have two metal pins which act as shield tabs which need to be connected to local ground. Can anybody point out as to how connecting the metal shield to local ground reduce interference. Ethernet CAT5 connector uses differential transmit and recieve. So how

| question about battery charging | 31 Aug 2005 11:15 GMT | 3 |
We have a photo-voltaic system with a battery bank configured to 24 Volts. There were sound reasons for going this way, but it has made headaches because 24 V equipment is hard to find and expensive to buy. My question is this; when we have a few cloudy days and I need to

| Diminishing Flux ?? | 31 Aug 2005 05:11 GMT | 2 |
I read a couple of postings wherein reference was made to magnets demagnetizing though the type of magnet was not revealed. What circumstance(s) is(are) involved? Is this a failing common to an alloy or manufacturing process?

| Do hard drives fail from open covers? | 30 Aug 2005 20:43 GMT | 76 |
Three of my 60-80 Gig Maxtor hard drives failed. First it will not look for datas. Later it will not format. Then finally it will click forever and won't boot. All three have the same thing in common, there covers were opened for a second in a clean, dust free room out of curiosity.

I have just set up my ERA-1SM amplifier, like it says to do here (P. 2) : http://www.minicircuits.com/appnote/an60010.pdf You can clearly see the output point. My question involves my Oscope measurement technique.

| Buck, Boost or Cancel ?? | 28 Aug 2005 08:04 GMT | 4 |
I have a question that is based on theory and is purely hypethetical. I have an energized 12 vdc circuit that I am testing when I accidently connect another 12 vdc source to the circuit so that voltages collide in "head_on" fashion.
