Low voltage connector31 Jan 2004 19:46 GMT12
Greets to all,
I need to pass 12V current from a chassis to a door. I would like the
door to have a spring loaded contact that would complete the circuit
when the door is closed by making contact with a flat contact in the

Farnell DTV 20 Oscilloscope31 Jan 2004 16:40 GMT2
I have just acquired a Farnell DTV 20Mhz Oscilloscope.
I would not have gone out and bought a scope but I have dabbled in basic
electronics and Robotics, I have got by so far without an Oscilloscope but
have had replies to some of my posts saying check the output with an

parallel port wiring confusion31 Jan 2004 06:51 GMT4
Most of the pinouts for various cables I've come accross do not denote
wether the connections are for the parallel port or the parallel port cable
connector.
Is the numbering scheme on a female connector different than a male
magnetic shielding31 Jan 2004 06:19 GMT61
I hope this okay to ask here. I'm looking for something to shield
monitors from one another. I run dual-monitors and of course they tend to
get wavy after running for awhile.
I've seen whole covers, but I'm hoping for some panel just to go
Fluorescent lighting31 Jan 2004 03:19 GMT8
In the typical set-up, what is the purpose of the "ballast"?  Is the
"starter" simply a capacitor?  Does the "ballast" ever wear out?  If the
"starter" is a capacitor, I would imagine that can wear out?
I tried Google to research this first, and it told me this newsgroup no

(Seemingly) simple op-amp question30 Jan 2004 23:24 GMT7
The circuit shown here:
http://www.benchmarkmedia.com/pdf/panpot.pdf
says that the total gain to one of the outputs will be .707 times the
normal gain when the pot is in the extreme position.  Is this correct?
555 and 4017B30 Jan 2004 19:24 GMT12
Hey, for my school work i am using a 555 timer in astable operation to
provide teh pulse for a 4017B decade counter. I have it all working
properly however when i move my hand whithin about 15cm of the circuit

long term trickle charging NiCad batterys30 Jan 2004 17:01 GMT1
I have an application where I am using a two cell 2300 mAh NiCad
battery as a backup power supply for a sensor.  The system will be out
in the field and running off AC power most of the time but when the
power is disconnected that battery will keep the system alive.  I want
ceiling fan speed control30 Jan 2004 16:29 GMT9
I installed a pleasantaire brand fan in my kitchen. It runs rather fast,
the calendar wants to leap off the wall.
It has a four wire connection, it is made to be reversible.
White and Black always neutral and hot.
cheap card reader.30 Jan 2004 15:30 GMT1
I'm basically trying to make a CHEAP card reader. Basically I want a
way to read ID off a card. Now I can use some meory chips and give a
card an ID but then I'd have to provide it clock cycles to retrieve
that ID i.e. using a microprocessor (clearly avoidable). I ain't no
Adding ground lead to heater and band-saw. 30 Jan 2004 11:49 GMT3
I bought a 120-volt carpenter`s band saw and a Sears
portable heater from a friend. It works great but not
without some minor wiring repairs. The original cords
didn't have a ground lead, cracked left exposed and
Dual supply using 2 transformwers30 Jan 2004 08:07 GMT8
I have two 12v-0v-12v one 230VA other 240VA transformers, can I connect the
two transformers in series to give me a 24v-0v-24v supply (24v from
12v-0v-12v). Then, feed these via rectifier to well sunk LM317 / LM337T's.
Would I have any issues.
