Robert Baer - 27 Aug 2008 23:20 GMT Will pay reasonable shipping costs - but please ask only if you can use a given item set.
1) 6 sets ferrite cores P14/8/I-3C81-A400 (ie: gapped) and retaining clips.
2) Rather old, untested, Analog Devices 310J amplifier module 3L x 1.5W x 0.75H.
3) Misc old but good electrolytic caps, and various digital ICs.
4) Ye Olde "Q" meter: have two and both worked 3-4 years ago. But one does not have the magic unobtanium detector tube and one of the front panel pots (DQ?) went bad so the meters were stripped out for use (any parts or all available). The other is very well packed for shipping, and i will pay the first $50 of shipping.
5) G.E. maggie GL-5J29 no magnet. Good vacuum, presumedly still works. "Classified" stampped on it; made for use in England for the war. Is there any museum that would like to add this to their collection?
6) Promise Ultra 133 TX2 PCI ATA Controller; used once and works fine. No longer need the extra IDE channels. Cost me $43, would appreciate rebate on shipping.

I'd love to have a Q meter again--is this one of the ones with a magic-eye tube?
I'll happily pay shipping and send a nice bottle of wine to console you for parting with it. ;)
Cheers,
Phil Hobbs

That's funny, not only did I not know that this group was a for sale group, but I thought it was actually explicitly noted as unacceptable behavior in the group's charter. Not to mention that it has nothing to do with design.

But, really, thanks for trying to protect us from ourselves, Jackieass.

If it is a version that he doesn't have yet, then I'm sure he would give it a good home (but the shipping could be costly, I guess). http://www.tubecollector.org/wanted.htm

[quoted text clipped - 40 lines] >Oh well, i suspect it would take me too long to learn how to use it >well for the purposes i had in mind. Passing. I was looking at that thing in recent weeks, considered asking for it, and found a manual for it here:
http://bama.sbc.edu/hp.htm
I'm interested in it as a VLF receiver. The reason I haven't asked for it is I've already got some "frequency-selective voltmeter" thing that appears similar and may well do the same thing - I forget the brandname and model (definitely NOT HP, it's something I don't think I'd heard of before), but it goes from 0(?) into the hundred-something kHz range, and runs on six D cells (thus it should have better line isolation than the HP unit). I didn't do much with it when I first got it years ago. I ought to try it out, see if it can do what I want. If not and the HP looks like it will (I'll look for a manual for my unit and compare sensitivity and such), I'll ask for the HP.

Well over 10 years ago, the best i could do was get it in microfiche form from HP. I used a magnyfing copier to make prints, and have those as well; ain't perfect, but useable.
